Professional Parents Services in 2011

With all the enthusiam the new year brings, I’ve been working on plans for Professional Parents events over the next few months.  This year, I’m offering a number of different services, so you can pick and choose which best suits – or come along to all of them!  Here is what I’m proposing so far and would love your feedback.  To keep up to date with exact events and dates, please follow the facebook page at www.facebook.com/professionalparents (and check the events tab).

1.  Professional Parents Playgroup is now registered with Playgroup Queensland and is held monthly on a Monday.  The cost is $5 per visit plus the annual Playgroup joining fee of $35 (or $25 for concession).  Locations and exact dates vary due to availability, public holidays etc so please join the Facebook page to be kept up to date.  The next one will be held on Monday 24th January at the Women’s Health & Mother Baby Hub, Strathpine.

2.  Professional Parents Workshops were popular in 2010 and will continue this year in a slightly different format.  I was aiming for monthly last year however found organising these takes a huge amount of time so am planing for bi-monthly or quarterly this year.  These will teach specific business skills and offer guest speakers.  Cost will be around $30-40 per workshop and I’m looking at potentially offering childminding for a small fee for daytime workshops, and also offering some evening workshops.  I aim to run workshops in both Brisbane and on the Sunshine Coast.

3.  Professional Parents Business Brainstorming Lunches is new for this year and will be “in between” the playgroups and workshops (i.e. relatively casual but with a focus on learning/sharing specific business skills).  After some lovely lunches late last year with other mums in business, I wanted to make it a regular thing – both for the social side but also the value in bringing talented people together to grow our businesses together.  These will be held at the Women’s Health and Mother Baby Hub and will cost approximately $15-20 including lunch.  I’m looking at fortnightly (or maybe even weekly) on a Thursday and babies and children welcome.  I’m also considering the Sunshine Coast monthly on a Friday.

4.  Professional Parents Family Fun began late last year and I’d like to continue and grow it last year – as the name says it is FUN!  Children (and the whole family welcome).  Outings in both Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast to various family-friendly locations.  Some events are simply meeting up at local attractions and others are joining in with other great events organised.  I’m aiming to have a couple on the weekends this year so the whole family can be involved.

I’m working on blogging more regularly (so far so good!) and have been working on a lot of profiles and product reviews I’d like to finally upload, and writing new ones.

The website www.professionalparents.com.au is also being rebuilt (if anyone out there is good with WordPress.org please let me know!)

The Facebook group www.facebook.com/professionalparents continues to grow (please feel free to introduce yourself and promote your business here!).

I’d like to continue with an enewsletter but have to admit it’s rather low down on the list at the moment!  I’m learning how to use systems such as CRMs (customer relationship managers) and enewsletter tools such as Mad Mimi to make this process more manageable so I’ll see how I go!

Love your feedback on the above – what are your thoughts, what are you most interested in?   What would you like to learn this year?  What type of people would you like to meet?
