I’ve been to a lot of markets over the last few years so when I first heard of Mamma’s Market in Buderim, to be brutally honest my first thought was “not another one!”. However, I’m pleased to say it’s true – as the Mamma’s Market website says “it will be more than just another market, it will be a fun experience for the whole family”.
I met Vanessa Portors, one half of the two sister team who organises the market a few weeks ago, and was impressed by her positive attitude and business brain. We hit it off so well from our first meeting (at Northside Twilight Markets run by Fiona Miecalff) that we’ve spent some time together since and are planning an upcoming event together, a workshop to support stallholders with Marketing Between Markets. You’ll no doubt be seeing more of Vanessa and the Mamma’s Market on this blog in the near future….
Meanwhile though, back to my first Mamma’s Market experience on 19th February. Though I’m based in Brisbane, I am regularly visiting family on the Sunshine Coast and have run workshops there, and for some time have thought there was definately a need for this style of market in that area. Beautiful Buderim is a lovely location, and the War Memorial Hall where the markets are held was a great spot.
The atmosphere was very pleasant and I easily spent a few hours there, catching up with friends, browsing wonderful and unique products and of course buying some. I stocked up on great value kids books from Storytime books and ordered matching t-shirts for my girls birthdays in July from Mm is for Me with their ages 2 & 4.
I had planned on uploading a video blog but am still doing battle with my video editing programme so for now it’s just a photo collage. Jordan from Still Photography took great pictures of every single stall which you can check out on the Mamma’s Market Facebook photo album.
Hope to see you at the next Mamma’s Market on 19 March, or at our workshop the week before on 11 March. For more details email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
