Abbey Medieval Festival

I’ve always had a “thing” for castles, knights, princesses – the whole Medieval period.  Maybe it came from fairy stories as a child, maybe from my yearning to travel to Europe from a young age to rediscover my English/Italian heritage, who knows?  Though until about the age of 20, the closest I got to a castle was Bli Bli (now called Sunshine Castle, I must take the kids there one day), I was fortunate enough to visit many wonderful European castles over the last decade or so.  I even got engaged at Neuschwanstein (the gorgeous castle in Bavaria which is the classic fairytale one Disney based their castle on) and got married in a small Dutch castle in Schagen (riding in on horseback).  Ok, so I’m definately a little castle crazy.  So you can imagine I’m pretty excited there’s a medieval festival this weekend about 20 minutes drive from where I live.

My daughter and I had a wonderful time at the Medieval Kids Day on Wednesday,h ere is a photo taken by Jeff of Brisbane Photography there.

As a volunteer assisting with the marketing team/social media of the event, I was there at the media preview today:

Here are other posts I’ve written about the Festival over on my Zestee Marketing Matters Blog.

Though it’s likely to be busy over the weekend, it’s well worth a trip if you’re in Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast – or even further away, I spoke to stallholders and performers today who have travelled from around the country, and even the world to be there.  So enjoy this world-class event and check out Abbey Tournament 2011 and might see you there!
